For parents:
Your child lives in a residential group, for example, or receives other help from the youth welfare office. In Germany, this is regulated by the “help plan procedure”.
This means that the Youth Welfare Office works with you to decide on a suitable form of help for your child or your family, e.g. residential group, support in your own home or support in the family, so that it is suitable for everyone. This is necessary because the youth welfare office pays for this help.
The important question here is how your child or your family can be supported. The wishes and ideas of your children or young people and of you are decisive here.
This is reviewed every 6 months at the latest in a joint meeting. This is called a “help plan meeting”.
This meeting is very important. It is very important that everyone, parents, children and the youth welfare office, take part. This is where decisions can be made together and criticism and wishes can be expressed. This is also where it is checked whether the help is the right thing and should continue or whether something needs to be changed.
